HALL/GROUNDS SECURITY EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT 7 Hours per day/35 hours per week 175 days per year Reports to:
Building Principal Job
Summary:
Under the direction of the Principal responsible for providing daily security for the school building and property and ensures the safety and security of students, staff, building and grounds.
This position patrols school property and alerts Administration of all safety and security concerns.
The Security Monitor responds to emergencies, intervenes in interpersonal conflicts, and directs students and staff in crisis situations.
To assist in area's such as; office, cafeteria, hallways, parking lot and bus area as assigned.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
Supervise In-School/After-School Suspension o Patiently deal with upset and/or disruptive students o De-escalate difficult situations o Maintain accurate records of attendees Oversee Student/Visitor Entrance o Maintain Check-in/check-out log o Escort individuals throughout the building Hall Monitor o Ensure students have appropriate passes o Escort students back to class if they have no pass o Approach students in a friendly manner to request to see passes o Develop personal connections with students that are frequently in the halls o Distribute/Sort Mail/Deliver packages to various parts of the building o Student shadowing as directed by principals, escort individual students to/from class Traffic/Parking Lot Assistance o Assist w/directing traffic before/after school throughout the school year - this involves spending lengthy periods of time outdoors o Apply/remove parking boot device o Assist in monitoring the parking lot on a daily basis o Sell daily parking passes o Maintain database of student/staff parking information o Operate golf cart or other school vehicle in and around school grounds for the purpose of supervising the parking lot Lunchroom Supervision o Supervise student lunches Monitors and patrols school building, grounds and property.
o Monitors for vandalism, theft and trespassing on school property o Informs school administration of unauthorized personnel on campus.
o Monitors students for drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
o Monitors for student truancy.
o Informs school administration of incidents.
o Investigates incidents, contacts police officers as necessary.
o Provides details of incidents to police.
Intervenes in interpersonal conflicts on school property.
o Evaluates the nature and severity of conflicts (verbal disputes versus physical altercations).
o Intervene in altercations between students as appropriate o Informs involved parties of rules and consequences.
o Determines action required to resolve conflicts.
o Acts as mediator to resolve conflicts.
o Prepares associated reports.
Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in cleaning tables after each student lunch.
Perform other general duties to accomplish the objectives and goals of the total school program.
Participate in staff development training programs as assigned.

High School Diploma or equivalent Strong relationship skills, especially with adolescents Experience in training and supervising adolescents strongly preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to physically intervene in conflict situations with students Ability to stand and/or walk 70% of the day, inside and outside in all weather conditions Must maintain a professional appearance Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner Ability to operate independently and effectively throughout the day Must work well as a team member Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students and parents.
Must have the ability and proven record of reporting to work on a regular and punctual basis.
Physical Requirements:
Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with students, including frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
