Building Service Worker (Custodian)

This position is responsible for cleaning and helping to maintain city facilities.
There are 2 positions available. The hours for the first position are12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The hours for the second position are 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Essential Duties:
Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by emptying trash and recycling, tidying furniture, and dusting/wiping down ledges and surfaces. Also includes set up and tear down rooms for meetings and events.
Sweep and mop tile floors and vacuum carpets.
Clean interior glass surfaces including mirrors and interior windows.
Clean, sanitize and stock bathrooms.
Maintain outside walk areas includind sweeping debris, washing walkways and shoveling snow.
Assists in maintaining landscape by watering, cutting and trimming shrubs and grass.
Notifies supervisor or department director of repairs and assists building maintenance personnel with minor repairs including painting, replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, etc.
Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and notifies supervisor when additional supplies should be ordered.
Performs other duties or a similar nature and level as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
2 years of related custodial experience.
Subject to an FBI background with fingerprinting.
Licensing:
Valid driver's license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and conscientiousness
Ability to use basic cleaning equipment and work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies
Time management and organizational skills
Customer service including the ability to maintain composure under pressure
Ability to work productively, efficiently, independently, and safely and use sound judgment with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships and maintain a respectful work environment
Must be able to carry out written and verbal instructions including the ability to read, follow and understand blueprints, written policies and procedures, technical manuals, etc.
Ability to document work that has been completed and materials used.
Ability to handles stress and stressful situations
Abiltiy to maintain confidentiality.
Compensation: The hiring range for this position is $18.61 to 19.55 per hour plus an excellent benefits package.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
