School District Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will work closely with various school districts, primarily charter schools, to provide financial advice along with the tools to do so.  This position will work closely with the Director and Board to create and maintain a long-term budget to help the District achieve its goals.   Responsibilities: Provide a WOW experience! Provide leadership to the Governmental group to help us be both efficient and effective in the services and experiences we deliver. Develop school budgets with input from client using long-term budget model.  Analyze YTD data and propose budget amendments as necessary. Be informed and in tuned to legislative changes that impact funding and communicate these changes to the clients. Review budget entered into accounting system by Assistant Manager. Ensure cash flow is adequate.  Work with various lenders on the District's behalf to secure line of credit or other borrowing as necessary. Ensure that School is receiving funds from all funding sources (this includes but is not limited to Gen Education Aid, ELL aid, Lease Aid, Special Education and Title) Work with School to develop both state and federal special educationbudgets. Monitor and analyze tuition billing revenue. Communicate with Assistant Managers, Accounts Payable, and Payroll as to what items are included in each budget and assist them in understanding the coding. Ensure the Assistant Manager and Accounts Payable staff are aware of all Grants that each school may have received. Prepare monthly financial statements and present to Board. Enter ADM estimates quarterly (or as required by MDE) into EDRS system.  School in their first 3 years must submit paper report with roster. Approve bank reconciliations. Manageauditprocess.  This includes but is not limited to the following: Verify that unaudited uploads have been done prior to the September 15th deadline. Check to see that audited uploads have been done upon completion of the audit Verify that the balances agree to Skyward.  Notify Assistant Manager and copy Payroll and Accounts Payable when the fiscal year can be rolled forward. Check to see that audited uploads have been done upon completion of the audit. Work with the client and complete the 990 tax questionnaire Complete Management Discussion and Analysis and send to the Client for their input/feedback.  Review Audit and ensure that audit is received by MDE prior to December 31stdeadline.   Requirements   Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business field required 1-3 years of experience in a management position CPA Certification preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Leadership experience Ability to adapt and work with many different personalities and communication styles Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) Experience with Skyward or SMART software is preferred   All applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, or status with regard to public assistance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
